Standard notes, terms & conditions

  1. Booking and payment in advance is essential.
  2. In season means: school & public holidays and Easter weekend.
  3. Always obey the guide’s instructions.
  4. We make use of crocs (inflatable boats).
  5. Students must have proof of a valid student card.
  6. Note that rates are based on the stipulated minimum group size. For bookings of groups less than the minimum requirements, rates will be adjusted on a sliding scale.
  7. Please note that on most of our adventures (SA-SA and SA-Nam) we may also camp overnight on the Namibian side of the river.
  8. It is recommended that participants have medical aid and insurance in South Africa and Namibia especially for overnight adventures.
  9. With payment of the deposit and/or final payment it is accepted that all participants agree to all the terms and conditions.
  10. Most overnight adventures are quoted for camping. Make use of add-ons if a chalet, or safari tent, or tent hire, etc. is preferred.
  11. A signed indemnity form is compulsory for each participant (to be completed at base camp).
  12. No refund applies if the participant does not complete the trip/adventure due to:
    • Bad weather
    • Problems with border documentation
    • Medical condition
    • Any other reason not mentioned here
  1. Trips/adventures may be cancelled by Orange River Rafters due to the level of the river.
  2. Participants will be refunded in full in the event of a trip/adventure being cancelled by Orange River Rafters.
  3. Feel free to tip our guides.
  4. Rates and scheduled dates are subject to change without notice.
  5. Orange River Rafters, their guides, or any other sub-contractor will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever.
  6. It is recommended that participants have travel insurance for that unexpected cancellation.
  7. Some of the trips/adventures may have limited or no mobile reception.
  8. Vioolsdrift does not have fuel available, you will need to make provision and fill up accordingly.
  9. A menu is available on request.
  10. Menus are subjected to change without prior notice.
  11. In case of an emergency on remote adventures Orange River Rafters makes use of a satellite device for communication.
  12. Participants are responsible for their own medical and/or rescue costs.
  13. When doing a SA-NAM adventure, participants have to check out of SA into Nam on the day of arrival at around 16h00. This must be done before your arrival at base camp at 17h00.
  14. Passports and unabridged birth certificates must be handed to your Head Guide for safekeeping on the day of arrival.
  15. Participants must check with the Department of Home Affairs whether they have everything they need to cross the border by following this link: http://www.dha.gov.za/
  16. Non-South Africans must make sure about the Namibia Visa requirements with their relevant local travel authorities.
  17. Age restriction for all rafting trips/adventures is 4-85 years.
  18. Vehicles are parked at own risk at base camp for the duration of the trip/adventure or stay.
  19. Card payment charges are for your own account (3,5% of payments).
  20. All bank charges for international payments are for your own account and will be billed accordingly.
  21. No discount or commission is applicable for trips/adventures that are already on special with 10% or more.
  22. No discount or commission is applicable on accommodation.
  23. All bookings and add-ons are subject to availability and must be confirmed by Orange River Rafters.
  24. Trips/adventures: 35% non-refundable deposit required to be paid within 24 hours once a booking has been made, outstanding amount to be paid 21 days prior to arrival.
  25. Accommodation: 50% non-refundable deposit required to be paid within 24 hours once a booking has been made, outstanding amount to be paid 14 days prior to arrival.
  26. Rentals/pick-ups/drop-offs: 50% non-refundable deposit required to be paid within 24 hours once a booking has been made, outstanding amount to be paid 7 days prior to rental/pick-up/drop-off.
  27. One booking form for each group is required.
  28. No contract shall exist between Orange River Rafters and the client until the prescribed deposit has been paid and the booking is confirmed by us.

 

Cancellation policy

Trips/adventures, rentals, pick-ups/drop-offs

Final payment will be refunded as follows:

  1. More than 30 days prior to arrival: 75%
  2. Between 22 – 30 days prior to arrival: 50%
  3. Between 7 – 21 days prior to arrival: 25%
  4. Between 0 – 6 days prior to arrival: no refund


Accommodation

Final payment will be refunded as follows:

  1. More than 30 days prior to arrival: 75%
  2. Between 22 – 30 days prior to arrival: 50%
  3. Between 7 – 21 days prior to arrival: 25%
  4. Between 0 – 6 days prior to arrival: no refund

  2. The Standard Notes, terms and Conditions are subjected to change without prior notice.
  3. Open groups = open for the public (make new friends).
  4. Private/closed groups = you, your family and friends.
  5. Join our scheduled (open group) adventures as a single person, a couple, or with family and friends, or book your own (private/closed) adventure on our scheduled dates or your own dates with family and friends.
  6. Feel free to give us a review on Facebook and Google after your adventure.
  7. Special dietary requirements: Participants with special dietary requirements like vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, halaal, people with allergies etc. will be charged a minimum of R25 and a maximum of R35 extra per meal.
  8. Participants with special dietary requirements may bring their own food.
  9. Although Orange River Rafters, their staff or any sub-contractor will do their best to ensure that participants who are allergic to certain types of food get the right food, it is still the participant’s responsibility to make sure that the food provided for them will not cause an allergic reaction.
  10. Pregnant participants, participants with special dietary requirements and participants with any noteworthy medical condition have to make special arrangements with management when making a booking.
  11. Participants will be liable for the cost of their own accommodation and meals etc. when they have to book an extra night at base camp or any other camp or lodge for whatever reason.
  12. All equipment provided by us is the property of Orange River Rafters and must be returned to us after each trip/adventure.
No animals allowed at base camp or on trips/adventures.

 Covid-19

Arrangements for visitors to the Orange River Rafters office and premises (base camps)

  • No handshakes or any other physical contact is allowed between employees and visitors/participants.
  • Upon entering the premises visitors/participants must sanitize their hands with alcohol based hand sanitizer that has an alcohol content of at least 70%.
  • Visitors/participants are to wear face masks, or other appropriate facial protective equipment when entering the premises and they are not allowed to take them off whilst on the premises.
  • Visitors/participants must practice social distance of at least 1,5 meters away from any employee or other visitors/participants at all times.
  • Visitors/participants must complete a travel history and health report.
  • Visitors/participants will be screened for any symptoms associated with COVID-19 and will not be allowed onto the premises if they display any of the symptoms.

If reservations are cancelled due to lockdown or Covid-19 illness we offer you the following choices

  1. Postpone the date to an alternative date within 12 months; or
  2. Get refunded as per cancellation policy and standard notes, terms & conditions.
